Grass Fed beef is all the rage now with everyone becoming more aware of all the chemicals in the food. More and more we speak to people that are sick and tired, literally, of all the junk crammed into their food.
During our seminars we often have a segment for questions and we often hear about “the old days” and how Grandparents ate like a horse but lived until they were 102. We often thought it was because they also worked like a horse. Then we figured it was all the crazy GMO, genetic engineering of the food that was the difference.
Or maybe Grandma lived longer because she didn’t use Round up on her garden and didn’t drown her asparagus in DDT. We it all adds up.
Miriam: I am a big advocate of Grass Fed beef and yogurt and cheese. I don’t eat dairy much anymore but when I do I always try to make it grass fed. If you start reading all the ingredients in traditional yogurt and milk you will see that it’s chemicalized like crazy.
Kristi: That is why it is so exciting what ALDI is doing. They are committed to adding more and more organic and grass fed food to their stores. I noticed the other day you were buying Organic eggs at ALDI and now this big roast. The roast was lip smacking by the way!
Miriam: It was so easy to cook it was silly. We will give the recipe after we give the 3 Health Reasons to Buy Grass Fed Beef. How does that sound?
Kristi: Sounds Great. So lets get right to it! Here are 3 Fantastic Health Reasons that may have been part of why Grandma and Grandpa lived so long! They were letting the cows eat grass and the chickens eat bugs and grass and other goodies from the farm.
1.) Grass Fed Beef is lower in Bad Fat and Higher in Good Fat. Also Grass Fed beef is lower in calories than traditional feedlot beef. Grass Fed beef is lower in the Omega-6 fatty acids (linked to inflammation) and higher in Omega-3 fatty acids (linked to healthy hearts)
People with a higher content of Omega-3 in their blood have a 50% less chance of heart attack and since Omega-3 is good for every cell in the body it’s great for helping prevent depression and Alzheimer disease.
2.)Grass Fed Beef has higher levels of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) than feedlot beef. CLA is a super human defense against cancer. A study in Finland showed women with higher levels of CLA in their blood had a 60% lower risk of breast cancer. Researchers from Utah State University go as far as to say you may lower your overall risk for cancer by eating grassfed products like, cheese, milk and grassfed beef.
3.) The Granddaddy of them all. Vitamin E. Grass Fed beef is four times higher in vitamin E than feedlot beef. Vitamin E is super healthy for the heart to lower heart disease and also great protector against caner. And a Bonus of all Bonuses…. Vitamin E is a great Anti Aging vitamin that the majority of Americans are deficient in.

Miriam: There are so many reasons to eat Grass Fed beef but these three are a great starter reason to go down to Aldi and grab your beef. They have it on sale this week (March 1) for 5.99 a pound and it’s a new item so be sure to buy it so they keep bringing it in.
Kristi: Well I tell you the portion you gave me was outrageously tender and the flavor was over the Mooooon! Oh yeah you were giving them the recipe remember.
Miriam: This is one of the easiest recipes for making a roast. I love the crockpot and this is so perfect to have cooking while you are perking around the house. I usually put it in the crockpot in the morning and before lunch it’s ready and so delicious.
Kristi: Well I sure ate my portion and was eyeballing yours!
Miriam: Here is the Easiest Grass Fed Beef Crockpot Recipe Ever.
1 lb Grass Fed Beef
2 oz Canary Island Garlic Herb Olive Oil (I used the Hot Splash)
1 oz low sodium tamari (the grey label from San J)
A.)Add Splash and Tamari to meat in a ziploc bag and massage in for 10 seconds.
Now this is the Wonderful part. Most recipes call for marinating overnight or several hours at least. But literally you only marinate this as long as it takes you to get out the crockpot and set up where you want to cook it and plug it in. That’s it.
B.) Put the meat along with the juice in the ziploc and the marinade in the bottom of the crockpot and turn it on high for 4 hours.
VERY IMPORTANT: Check the meat after 3 hours. As crockpots all vary in heat regulation if you like it a little more on the pink side you will want to check at the 3 hour point if not a bit sooner.
Kristi: That is so crazy. I would totally have thought that you would have to add liquid to the crockpot. That method is super duper easy and no mess. Even better!!
Miriam: Yes and ALDI grass fed beef is so lean there isn’t a lot of shrinkage so you put in a pound of meat you almost get a pound when it’s done. Let us know how you like the recipe and be sure and share and leave us a comment so we can hear what other recipes you would like.
Kristi:I served mine with Quinoa and organic baby greens a bit of zucchini and organic tomato and a little dab of Celtic Sea Salt. When I add salt to my meal I always say put the salt on your meal, not in your recipes. So the Celtic Sea Salt is very healthy unprocessed and a couple of grinds is just perfect.
