Yesterday Dr. Oz hosted a panel discussion on GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organisms) discussed, was the use and safety of GMO’s. To genetically modify a food, genes of one species are spliced into the DNA of another species, like cow genes are mixed with hog DNA, or human genes are mixed in corn DNA. Or the pesticide Roundup , is embedded into corn so that the corn produces it’s own pesticide to continually kill bugs that bite into it, by exploding their stomaches. Around 85 percent of the corn, sugar beets, soybeans, and canola are grown from GMO seeds. Dr. Oz said.Jeffrey Smith, author of the book, Seeds of Deception, said that foods such as soy (tofu), corn oil, canola oil, cottonseed oil, corn on the cob, sugar from sugar beets, papaya, and zucchini are all modified food crops. To watch the entire show go to www.doctoroz.comJeffrey Smith’s book exposes the use of Genetically Modified Organisms in our food.Seeds of Deception: Exposing Industry and Government Lies about the Safety of the Genetically Engineered Foods You’re Eating by Jeffrey M. Smith, ISBN 0972966587 Jeffrey said, he has worked with many doctors to write the book, “Genetic Roulette”. Labeling GMO foods is very important, he added, but because there is currently no GMO labeling requirements he has listed two websites where he has lists of non-GMO foods.
